I love wood, have since I was knocking together scraps in my Grandad’s basement.  Trees are essential to our existence. They provide beauty and comfort and utility while balancing the atmosphere critical to our lives. What is not evident in the forest or our own yards is the artistic media within the tree. I try to interpret that.

I work in exotic and domestic hardwoods and I recycle as many hardwood tables and doors into boxes as I can latch onto. This allows the tree to reinvent itself another time before, like all of us, it reverts to carbon.

Using hand implements  on wood is more rewarding than power tools so all of my boxes are touched one way or another by restored chisels, planes, scribes and other tools of my grandfathers.

Boxes are functional art. They hide things, display things, they can commemorate or consecrate.  They bring interest and beauty to tables, dressers, mantles, shelves…………
Hug a tree, let it be art.
