I began my art career in 1984 with watercolor painting. I fell in love with transparent watercolor. I developed a style that required very controlled wet-in-wet applications of layers of paint to achieve my design goals. I learned early that I did not have an innate sense of design and spent a lot of effort to learn concepts of good design. My watercolor paintings all involve subjects in strong sunlight to take advantage of interesting shadow shapes. I progressed from painting architectural landscapes to florals to other landscapes and figures. I enjoy painting in a wide range of styles depending on the subject matter and my design goals. As I became interested in figure work, I transitioned to painting in pastels. More recently, I have transitioned to oil painting. In all my work, my goal is to create visual entertainment. For me, the excitement in artwork comes from the dynamic combination of value, color, line, shape, and texture that direct the viewer’s eye to the center of interest. In the last 10 years, I have created a number of works with Christian symbolism. My goal in these works is to honor God and make His Word come alive through symbolic imagery.

My works have been accepted in over 50 juried shows and I am former signature member of the Northwest Watercolor Society. Other shows include the National Watercolor Society, The LA Audobon Society, and the Georgia Watercolor Society. I am a former president of the Eastern Washington Watercolor Society.

I encourage commission work including portraits. There is no charge for consultation and I fully guarantee your satisfaction for commission work or you will receive a full refund.
