A love affair with the “flavor” and uniquely beautiful landscape of the Southwest influences what Deb paints. In her representational “intimate desertscapes”, you will find the essence of our beautiful, magical, and colorful Southwest...agaves, prickly pears, Southwest garden gates, desert fauna, landscapes, and more. Sometimes she will tap into visionary imagery, and fantasy, while still maintaining the transparency and luminosity of watercolors.
Deb has had the love and interest in various art and craft forms since about six years old. After obtaining her BA in Art Education/Biology in New Jersey, she and her husband moved to Tucson in 1978.
About 10 years ago she began studying watercolor in Tucson with-well known local and national artists and loves the challenge of the intrinsic properties of the medium. Art helps to soothe the soul and heal the heart, so Deb wants to share all she has learned including her delight in the interpretation of her muses with her viewers.
Deb is a juried member of the Southern Arizona Watercolor Guild. She is also a member of the Southwestern League of Fine Arts and Pima Paint Club. Her paintings have been juried into numerous shows.
