Joan Fimbel DiGiovanni received her Ph. D. from Baylor University (1961) in Social Psychology. She taught Psychology on the graduate and undergraduate level at Old Dominion University, Springfield College, Western New England College, Hawaii Pacific University, University of Maryland-University College (Belgium and Italy). Since relocating to AZ, she has been an adjunct faculty member at the University of Arizona, and Pima Community College, while painting in oils and researching Women Artists Psychobiography’s. Joan maintains a part time practice in Tucson as a Psychologist, Art Therapist, and Artist. Ronald R. Lee and her chapter “The Art and Suffering of Frida Kahlo” appears in CREATIVITY & MADNESS: Psychological Study of art & Artists, American Institute of Medical Education Press, l995. Joan has presented yearly to psychological, psychiatric and medical conferences both internationally and domestically since 1984-. At ICAP (International Congress of Psychology) Berlin, Germany 2008, Joan was part of an invited Symposium “Women over 50: Psychological Perspectives”, which was also presented at SWPA Salon 2009. Joan DiGiovanni’s painting “Dinghies Awaiting” will be on the cover of AMERICAN PSYCHOLOGIST, July/August 2012. Just received notification.
